As sure as night follows day, another 18 months or so have elapsed since our last expedition up Ben Nevis in April 2008, which was preceded by the walk round the Isle of Wight in September 2006. As I write, the date has to be confirmed - we are going for Fri 18th/19th/20th September 2009, failing that the weekend before. Veterans from the previous 2 treks; myself, Jon Wedger, Dave 'Sompy' Parrish and 'Big Tone' McCarthy (missed Nevis) are all confirmed attendees. Depending on dates, we may be joined by Johnno, Mike 'Reg' Carney and Pete 'Bomber' Harris
This time, we aim to scale the 3 Yorkshire peaks covering 25 miles or so within 12 hours, raising money on behalf of Allan 'Robbo' Robinson and Karen's young lad George. He has Congenital Melanocytic Naevus (CMN), which is a rare skin condition. Funds raised will help research the matter by Great Ormond Street Hospital and support families affected by it.

This offests the drama of Jon not being able to make the original date....a proposed 'new' date of 23/24/25 October will apparently guarantee Jon, Sompy, Bomber, me and Johnno...I'm waiting for definites before throwing myself on the mercy of the B & B man Dave....Gonzo also thinking about coming.....

12-8-09 @ 0730hrs Booked the B and B last night, 6 of us will stay Fri night (23/10), Wedger will pitch up at 0700hrs or similar for the yomp, then crash over the Saturday night! We are the magnificent 7, me, Wedger, Sompy, Bomber, Gonzo, Johnno and Chris Mackin; if ever the devil could cast his net.......the 5 a side footy tournament @ Millwall I was going to organise for this, I am going to do instead to generate funds for Jane Twite after the tragic news that Sid died in a bike crash on Sunday in Scotland....

25-10-09 @ 1820hrs We did it baby! We conquered the 3 Yorkshire Peaks - Ingleborough (aka Sinead O'Connor - nothing compares to you), Pen-y-Ghent (aka Penny Lane) and Whernside (aka 'Shirley' - the Big Daddy) in what were quite possibly the worst walking conditions ever! During our 9hr 55 minute yomp, it was sunny for an hour, light rain for 3 hours and heavy rain for the other 6 or so. We left our B and B in (Valerie S) Ingleton at 0820hrs yesterday scaled Sinead by 10am despite the lack of a Stana stairlift. We then pressed onto Shirley but got to Penny by mistake! A schooner of tea later, spirits were refreshed and we scaled Penny despite me thinking we had almost made it when we hadn't even reached its base! Back to the cafe, onto Shirley for 1530hrs, where me and Jon decided to do a magical mystery tour in lack of navigation skills and added 2 miles to the trip.....the neverending ridge FINALLY reached the summit after halestones, wind and rain, and mist coming down quicker than Linford Christie on speed. (Note to self - never ever say you have conquered Mother Nature when you have reached the ridge and the sun is shining - extreme weather ensues!). A mud slide back to Sompy's car, us arriving at 1815hrs ensued we did it in record time and I had the unusual and dubious distinction of sitting in a puddle full of wet with the old bloke driving next to me completely dry!! Big respect to all involved for their great teamwork, what next?! Thanks for all your donations :)
