As many of you know, we both work at Charity Link, a fantastic charity which supports people of all ages and backgrounds who are affected by poverty, hardship or crisis. (Please read more about Charity Link below or via the link).

Because Charity Link is so fantastic we have decided to take part in two muddy challenges. 

We've now completed the first - the Major Series 5k run in Athestone on 7th March. This saw us tackle a course which included swimming in a freezing lake, going through ponds with mud so deep we nearly lost our trainers, going up and down steep hills, carrying logs, climbing over cargo nets....it was not pretty - as the 'after' photo proves.

The second event - Farmagedon - takes place on 25th April at Brooksby Melton College and will see us running around woodland and farm tracks whilst facing many natural and man-made obstacles.

If you know us you will know that this will not come naturally - so please do support us to make the wet and cold and electricity worthwhile!

Because of the unique way that Charity Link work's (for every £10 received we can raise £50 for those in need) whatever you give really will make a difference:

Your £5 = £25, enough to help heat a home for a week

Your £10 = £50, helping to providing a family with food for a week

Your £25 = £125, to buy a child a bed

Your £50 = £250, enough to buy a cooker for a family

Charity Link:

Each year Charity Link helps over 5,500 vulnerable children and adults in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It has recently also expanded its work into Northamptonshire.

Charity Link helps by providing essential items that the majority of us take for granted, but when you don't have them the impact on your quality of life and feelings of self-worth can be huge. These include a bed to sleep in, a cooker to prepare hot food, clothing, fridges, and in emergencies, food. Charity Link also runs the only food bank in Leicester open five days a week. During its first year the food bank has distributed over 6,000 food parcels to people in desperate need.

We know that people can fall into poverty for a huge variety of reasons; ill health or disability, the breakdown of a relationship or a partner passing away, being made redundant. We are also helping more and more working families who can't make ends meet. Charity Link helps elderly people, the victims of domestic violence, carers, homeless people....but its vital work can only continue with support. Over the past year we have seen a 40% increase in the number of people needing the charity's support. And everyday we see what a difference Charity Link makes. It is simple; the more funds raised, the more people Charity Link can help.
