Story
As many of you may or may not know, my beautiful step mum was diagnosed with Lupus a little while ago now, which completely turned her life upside down. (To find out more about Lupus please follow the link: https://www.lupusuk.org.uk/what-is-lupus/ )
After suffering brain haemorrhage, arthritis that bound her to a wheelchair for a while, multiple organ problems leading to surgery and daily/weekly flares that makes even waking up painful - she still manages to be superwoman! She cares for everyone she knows, gives her time and energy (which is incredibly limited) to help others AND get herself fit (despite her bones, joints and muscles screaming at her not to).
The latest issue had resulted in her losing her sense of smell and taste, with nothing doctors can do to reverse this!
So - I decided it’s time to stop taking my body and health for granted and use it to help fight battles that those with lupus cannot. I’ve been working hard to lose weight and get fit (23lbs down so far) and am now attempting the 12km mud race (which includes 136 obstacles).
This is going to be rough but so much fun and for such a great cause. Lupus UK are making advances on early diagnosis, treatment options and pain relief - all which will lead to those with Lupus suffering just a little less each time.
Please give anything you can (even a pound would be brilliant) to help support Lupus UK - and give me incentive not to curl up and cry in a mud swamp halfway around haha.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this - and thank you for everyone who donates. You are amazing.
