Our team of twelve optimists (some might say masochists) must attempt to climb the three highest mountains in the United Kingdom (Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell in England and Snowdon in Wales) within 24 hours. Many have tried and failed before, but our brave lads and lasses are undaunted and set off on their quest early on 21st July.
We wanted to ally ourselves to a worthy, London-based cause and use the Three Peaks Challenge as a means of fundraising. A poll in the office produced the Small Steps children’s charity as our chosen partner. Small Steps operates out of a school in Putney and helps parents to help their own children who have cerebral palsy or other forms of motor and sensory impairment.
Children attend a group session at Small Steps once per week with a parent or carer. There are up to five children per group who are all working on similar skills. A team of teachers, conductors and physiotherapists lead the parent/child team through a structured programme designed to help each child achieve the next developmental steps. The approach is based on principles of conductive education and primarily focuses on learning new physical skills, but also encompasses social skills, communication skills, sensory skills and educational learning.
So...please support both our wonderful team and our wonderful charity by giving as generously as you feel able via this JustGiving website.
Thanks very much
