Dreamflight gives children with serious illnesses or disabilities the holiday of a lifetime – from magical trips to Orlando to UK adventures that build confidence and independence. These experiences help children grow, feel celebrated, and discover their potential.

Story

Thank you for visiting the Pooh Bear fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

All of the Pooh Bear ladies, as well as one of the past Dreamflight children ran and walked the Adidas Women's 5km Challenge in Hyde Park on September 7th 2008 to raise funds for Dreamflight and the Pooh Bears. Gillian, Cauvery, Sian, Sarah, Lucy, Marion, Maxine, Jacquie, Debbie, Laura, Tara, Joan and Caroline made up the team and we walked as a group, singing all of our Pooh Bear favourite songs en route!! The atmoshere was fantastic and even the elements supported us - the rain stayed away!! You can still support our efforts by donating online through this page......please!!!

Every year Dreamflight sends a British Airways 747 with 192 seriously ill and needy children along with their adult escorts to Florida, to make new friends, share experiences and of course to enjoy the sunshine & theme parks of Orlando.

The children are divided into 12 regional groups and we are the Pooh Bears from Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Middlesex and London. On Saturday 18th October, 16 very excited young Pooh Bears will be arriving at the Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow for a party and overnight stay, before jetting off to Orlando, waved off by celebrities, including our fabulous patron, Sir Cliff Richard.

While other charities may focus on funding research, we believe that it is just as important to bring some fun and joy into the lives of children who perhaps can't wait long enough for that breakthrough. We aim to make this truly special for all of the children on Dreamflight and the Pooh Bears in particular!!

The costs are enormous - in excess £700,000 per year, equating to over £3,000 per child.

So where does the money go? £2.50 pays for a group baseball cap for a child, £7.50 provides lunch and refreshments each day for a child and £12.50 buys each child in our group a cuddly Pooh Bear! £200 allows a child to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove, a truly magical experience and £280 sponsors a set of T shirts for all of the members of the group for a day. On a larger scale - £1,200 provides each child with DVD of the holiday, personalised to each group, £13,000 sponsors a day's entry to the Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios, with £40,000 the cost of the Dreamflight dolphin encounter at Discovery Cove. A final mention to the £420,000 cost of chartering the British Airways 747!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Dreamflight will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, just remember to tick the Gift Aid box. All of the money donated goes directly to the children, who really do deserve this special break.

So please sponsor us now and help to make this dream a reality for these wonderful, brave and deserving children!

Many thanks for your support.
