Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We are all new(ish) mums (& 1 dad) taking up the challenge to run 10k to raise money for two good causes that help new parents and new babies. We are not natural runners and for most of us this is the first race we have entered.
All the money raised through this page will go towards supporting Buscot Ward - the special care baby unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where most of us had our babies.
Charlotte's little girl, Ella, spent some time in Buscot after she arrived very early and was quite poorly. It was a very difficult time for Charlotte and her husband Patrice, but they were given good care and a lot of support. Thanks to this, Ella is now a thriving one-year-old.
The charity spends money either on vital equipment for the unit (if it cannot be financed by the Trust) or it invests in the faciliities on the unit (such as the family room) to make the stay for parents and babies more pleasant and comfortable.
Upcoming purchases include:
1. A monitor for the transport incubator, which is used to transport babies to other hospitals or departments.
2. Apnoea monitors, which are used to alert staff when babies have apnoea attacks which mean they have stopped breathing.
3. Mobile breast pumps and stands so that Mums can express milk at their babies side or in the privacy of their hospital room
Please sponsor us with whatever you can and do come along to Dorney Lake on 6th June to cheer us over the finish line!
If you would also like to donate to support the National Childbirth Trust then visit www.justgiving.com/mumsanddads4nct.
Many many thanks.
