Mus'ab ibn Umair Fund · 16 July 2012

Ebrahim College was established in 2003 as a Darul Uloom style seminary appropriate for the modern world. The aim was to benefit from the rigour and credibility of the traditional Darul Uloom and, where it was deemed beneficial, merge it with the best in modern curriculum development, pedagogy, technology and research.

Story

Ebrahim College’s Mus’ab ibn Umair Fund

At Ebrahim College we are committed to attracting and retaining students of high aptitude so that the best of our young people become the leaders of the future. And we endeavour to not turn away worthy students when their financial circumstances become an obstacle to seeking knowledge.

This fund awards hardship grants to students who are unable to finance their studies. Each year many students apply for a course but cannot afford the cost of studying, or begin a course but are forced to drop out due to unexpected financial difficulties. The grants will be awarded on a needs basis subject to means testing. The fund will be operated as a general fund that will take charitable gifts and donations including Zakah of all amounts.

With your support, this fund will ensure that talented people with the potential to learn and apply sacred knowledge are not turned away and are able to study.

By supporting students who are future leaders, Imams, scholars, and teachers, every donor makes a significant impact to the future of Muslims and his/ her own aakhirah.

In this month of giving, please do not forget the need for Islamic education in the UK. Remember that any sadaqah you give towards this cause will be a sadaqah jariyah and will continue to benefit you beyond this life. And in this month, all rewards are multiplied many many times by Allah (SWT).

Paying Zakah
If any or all of your donation is zakah, please stipulate clearly at the time of donation.

Who was Mus’ab ibn Umair?

Mus’ab ibn Umair (RA) was a companion of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).  He was the son of a wealthy man and enjoyed the finest food and clothing. The people of Makkah could tell by the lingering scent of his perfume that he had passed by there.

Muhammad (SAW) used to say:

"There is nobody more handsome in Makkah than Mus‘ab. There is no person in the city better clothed and fed than Mus‘ab. There is no child brought up with more affection and love than him."

When Mus’ab ibn Umair (RA) accepted Islam, he faced much hardship and even imprisonment in his own home. But he was a devoted Muslim and learned much about Islam.

First envoy of Islam

When some people came from Madina and asked Muhammad (SAW) to send someone to teach them about Islam and call other people of Madina to Islam, Mus’ab ibn Umair (RA) was chosen by the Prophet (SAW) and sent to Madina.

Led the first Jummah in Madina

When the number of Muslims increased in Madina as a result of Mus’ab ibn Umair’s efforts, he sought permission from the Prophet (SAW) to establish the Friday prayers in Madina. The permission was granted and Mus’ab ibn Umair became the founder of the Friday prayers in Madina. SubhanAllah.
