Jesuit Missions is the international development and mission office of the Jesuits in Britain. For over 50 years it has supported vulnerable communities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Story

I am a member of students team from Manchester Universities’ Catholic Chaplaincy. Our mission is to go to St. Ignatius primary school in Dodoma, Central Tanzania, East Africa, for 4 weeks to volunteer with the local children. Apart from running the lessons and spending the time with students, my main mission is to record the local children choir and produce an album of songs that we can bring back to the UK and sell to raise money to help them out. I believe that art can change the world, however not every person has a possibility to express himself through art. I want to provide this opportunity for children of St Ignatius primary school, because their songs and chants are more than powerful.

I've has graduated Public Institution Franciscan Gymnasium in Lithuania, majoring in live events engineering, organization and
production, also radio shows running. I am currently studying on SSR Manchester's BSc (Hons) Studio & Live Music Production course and I am already self-employed live sound engineer, producer and promoter. I've  already worked in one of the most professional Lithuanian sound company "No Noise" and many local live music venues. The biggest concert I was working in was in July of 2015 with the most popular Lithuanian artist named SEL. There was over 18.000 people in the gig. Also in the summer of 2015 I've also worked with the biggest TV company in Baltic States -Lithuanian National Radio and Television on direct broadcasting and main stages with audience of over 3 million people.

By putting up together my skills and children's talent to sing, together we can create another beautiful musical journey, which would deliver a different message to the world. However, recording equipment and travel expenses are really expensive, therefore I honestly ask for your support, both financial and spiritual. Keep us in your prayers. Thank you very much.

Yours sincerely,

- Rokas Balsys
