An urgent appeal
EMW Musky
Pictures to follow, as well as fuller veterinary report on the condition Musky has and the estimated cost of treatment required.
Musky is an adorable 12hh Welsh Section A gelding. On return, at vet inspection, it was discovered this pony
had suffered trauma to his left eye and had, as a result, developed deep seated infection in both eyes, causing
weeping nad discomfort. This was treated immediately but unfortunately now the damaged eye has prolapsed and caused a huge oedema around the poll region, due to pressure on natural drainage channels.
To date the concensus is to treat with anti-biotics and pain relief until the condition stabilises.
The prognosis is most likely removal of the damaged eye. Although we are holding the balance of the fund raised for Mannie, the little one-eyed shetland who came in during mid-winter, he too may need to have his damaged eye removed as there is some concern for it's stability right now. We find ourselves in postion of having to appeal once again for funds to help cover unexpected and financially devastating veterinary costs...
Update May10th Musky is making good progress and his pain and infection are now under contol, he has and settled well he keeping near to his new friend Seamus all the time but he is growing in confidence as he feels better. His eye is still causing concern as one thing seems to be improving another problem shows through. So far his treatment has cost just over £230 with ongoing reviews and treatment this will at least double this is without an operation.
