Story
In September I'll be taking to the roads of Romania once more to raise money for Cry in the Dark, the aim to cycle 260 miles in 3.5 days (from Bucharest to Comanesti) and raise £3,500 for the amazing, life changing projects that Cry in the Dark run.
Casa Lumina - For 10 years we've run (and developed) this residential care home for 22 young people with special needs, providing care, education, stimulation and advocacy. This May we opened two new family homes for assisted living for the further development of life skills for twelve of our young people who are more able.
Casa Albert Hospice - Donations from previous rides helped to complete the building of this amazing facility which:
- is the base for the team of community nurses that provide palliative care to roughly 60 children and young people living with terminal illness as well as providing much needed support to their families.
- this summer hosted a series of teaching and training events for healthcare professionals in the region, developing understanding of and best practice in palliative care. An incredible project that will have an impact on hundreds, if not thousands, of people suffering with terminal illness.
- in June, began operating a day care centre for one day a week, providing activities, care, community and nourishment for children and young people. Families also benefit hugely from the support and rest it provides.
It's a real privilege to be involved with Cry in the Dark, and it's been fantastic seeing all the services grow
over the 4 years I've been involved with them. But we can only
continue to provide and expand these services (there are plenty more
days in the week for the day care centre to open, subject to funding!)
through your generosity and support. £3,500 is a huge total to aim
for, especially given the current climate, but I'd be REALLY grateful
if you could consider sponsoring me. By digging deep and being as generous
as you can you'll be making a real difference to the lives of
so many children, young people and their families.
Thank you so, so much for your support.
Neil
