Story
28th September: This is a day I'll never forget! Stephanie lept over the barrier 100 meters from the 42 km mark, took my hand and dragged me to the finish (shouting "C'mon Mummy, you can go faster!") line in 5 Hours 32 minutes. It was a beautiful day, a world record was set (Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia in 2:03:59) and although I found it quite tough after 30 km, I managed to complete one of my life goals. Many, many thanks to all of you for your support and inspiration. Life is great....Nancy
27th Sep: Tommorrow's the big day! We're off to Berlin this morning and will collect my race number this afternoon. Forecast is for a nice sunny day. I will let all of you know how I go and will hopefully have lots of photos to post!
24th Sep: As the marathon day draws ever closer, I would like to once again thank everyone who has sponsored me on this incredible challenge. I'm pretty sure I'll get through it somehow but in any case, the most important thing is the support we're all giving to the NSE. Fortunately my daughter Stephanie's epilepsy has stablised since starting her medication last year, but as epilepsy is such an elusive and unpredictable condition, it is wonderful to have resources such as the NSE to help understanding and find ways to move ahead. If you're interested in seeing where you're donations are going, have a look at the website: http://www.epilepsynse.org.uk
Wish me luck, I'll let you all know how Sunday turns out! take care, Nancy XXX
16th Sep: Over the weekend the £1500 target was reached, so I'll raise it one last time to £2000. Seeing all your support definitely got me through my last long training run this morning - 35 Km! Less than two weeks to go now...
5th Sep: Now we've gone past £1000!!! The NSE is really going to love me! Anyway, I'll raise it again and hopefully I'll get some more donations, but actually we're sooooo happy with surpassing the goal twice now....Thankyou very much.
1st Sep: Double Wow!! I can't believe it, the £750 goal has been reached! Dare I go up to £1000? I can't say thank you enough for all of your support. And I'm more motivated than ever to keep up the training....
28th Aug: Wow! Many thanks to all of you who have so generously donated to the NSE. I have now surpassed my original goal of £500 and have increased the target to £750. Both Stephanie and I are deeply touched by your support of this wonderful organisation. Now all I gotta do is cross that finish line....
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the National Society for Epilepsy gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Many thanks for your donation and wish me luck in completing my first full marathon!
Best regards,
Nancy
