Hello and welcome to Naomi's sponsored cycle fundraising page: I suffer from
Endometriosis, as do 1 in 10 women in the UK, and I madly decided to cycle
100 miles across the country in order to raise awareness and funds for The National Endometriosis Society.
Luke, my cycle-mad boyfriend, joined me on Saturday 2nd September for 10 hours of wind, rain and energy bars to cycle from my house in
Stoke Newington,
London to my parents house in
Cropredy, Oxfordshire.
It was a long day and we both had bad colds before starting out but set off straight up Muswell Hill (one of the worst climbs of the ride) Saturday morning and made it into Cropredy by 8.30pm and were met by friends and family with balloons and congratulations.
Even though I have reached my fundraising target of £1500 this page will stay live until the 22nd September as every extra pound will help The National Endometriosis Society to keep supporting women with this disease.
The money goes straight to the charity, which as part of it's work is educating the public and the medical profession on this little known disease, at present it takes an average of 8 years to get diagnosed! Go to:
www.endo.org.uk for more information on The National Endometriosis Society.
What is Endometriois? Endometriosis is a chronic condition that affects 1 in 10 women in the UK and is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain and infertility in women. Symptoms include heavy and painful periods, problems when opening bowels, pain during intercourse, muscle ache and fatigue. Endometriosis is a condition where cells normally lining the uterus are also found in other areas of the pelvis, causing pain and fertility problems. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The National Endometriosis Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please click on the sponsor button now! Thank you so much.
Naomi.
