Update on 27 April 2009 - The day after the Flora London Marathon

Its over! 26 miles 385 yards, tough, very tough. David ran in 4 hours and 4 minutes, I ran in 4 hours and 10 minutes, we were both really pleased with our times as the conditions were hard with very hot weather. Our wives Anne and Nikki came up to support us as well as Harry, Patrick, Ellie, Ben and Will, we also had support from Jon Stannah, Nick Jones and our coach Simon from Salisbury ARC, thank you so much for the support. The London crowd was fantastic and really made the difference, particulary those last 6 miles!

As you know Naomi House Children's Hospice needs every pound due to the 5.7 million lost in the Icelantic Bank breakdown, your donation has made a big difference to children's lives.

THE SPRING BALL - 28 February

What a night, a total of £15,000 was raised thanks to the generosity of all who attended. We were treated to a wonderful four course meal thanks to Top Line Catering, a chocolate dessert was supplied by the John and Robert from the Salisbury Chocolate Shop and Andy Bunt of Country Coffee supplied the coffee and mints.

Local Television and Radio broadcaster Ian Axton who also owns Hampshire 106.4 Andover Sound orchastrated the evening, there was a raffle, ladies hamper prize and 11 auction lots which helped raise this fantastic amount of money.

Our thanks also to Bill Browne and the team at the Salisbury Journal and Wiltshire Society, Bill has always supported our charity attempts and the publicity received has greatly helped the amounts raised.

On behalf of Nikki, Anne, David and myself we would like to thank everyone who generously helped sponsor the event, we received many cheques, donations from local businesses, raffle and auction prizes, all of which will make the children's lives at Naomi House that little better. Katie, Helen and the crew from Naomi House who attended on the evening were also overwhelmed with the end result.

The Races

Without the help and support though of Simon our coach and the members of Salisbury Athletics and Running club things wouldn't have gone as well as they did.

The Salisbury 10 mile - John 74 minutes, David 76 minutes.

Reading half Marathon - A hot day with a finish time of 1 hour 46 minutes.

Final Race - The Flora London Marathon - 26 April 2009. David 4 hours 4 minutes, John 4 hours 10 minutes.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Naomi House Children’s Hospice (Wessex Children's Hospice Trust) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks. John and David alias The Naomi House Harriers
