london to paris 4 children · 16 February 2009

We're a Christian child development charity that sees beyond poverty to the incredible potential God has placed in every child and family. Partnering with more than 8,900 local churches in 29 countries, we work to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Story

The very exciting news is that I am riding all the way from London to Paris starting July 22! Luckily not on my old Raleigh shown in the picture that I ride around London on (and even once to Cambridge). Trent and I just got ourselves Specialized Sirrus bikes..very exciting (for any bike fans out there!). Trent is continuing on through Swiss Alps and on to Italy with the the trip organiser so his bike is a little more hardcore than mine!

We have been training with friends around Richmond Park and other amazing destinations in London and we are slowly building up our fitness to be ready for the ride.

The most important thing about the ride though is the 3 charities that gets supported  - Unicef/Compassion/ADRA. I am supporting Compassion as Trent and I have 2 little sponsor children through Compassion -  a Child Aid Agency that assists children in poverty.  Thanks for taking the time to check out my fundraising page. Trent has one too..but sponsor me instead ha haa!!!

PS For any John Denver fans out there...below is my version of This Old Guitar :) So sing the melody as you read :)

This Old Bike...

This old bike took me to work at Woking

As I worked hard each day at school

It introduced me to some friends of mine and brightened up some days

Took me home on some cold London nights

What a friend to have on those cold London nights

One time it took me all the way to Cambridge

Where I thought that ride might be its sad end

But this old bike stood true and sturdy and never missed a beat

Can't say the same for Trent's bike that broke along the way

The old Raliegh took me safely all the way

He hee...

Naomi :)
