Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am a 23 year old chemical engineer, originally from New Zealand but currently living in Hull, UK. I am passionate about empowering people to lift themselves out of poverty.
At 5,895m, Kilimanjaro is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. In March 2012, I'll be attempting to reach its summit in support of Compassion's Leadership Development Programme (LDP), which enables talented young people in developing nations to receive a university education. Recent graduates of this programme have gone on to become doctors, teachers, agriculturalists, pastors and Members of Parliament. More importantly, they have all become powerful agents of change, helping to break the crippling cycle of poverty.
I have witnessed first hand the amazing power of education to transform the lives of individuals and entire communities. But without our support, many will simply not have a chance to receive it. Climbing this mountain will be an immense challenge for me, but it's nothing compared to the obstacles faced on a daily basis by those Compassion seeks to help.
