Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Freya was born on 24th March 2015 perfectly healthy and fighting fit. At 10 weeks (June 2015) she was taken ill and transferred from Lister to Intensive Care in Southampton. They diagnosed dilated cardiomyopathy (a section of her heart is dilated and therefore doesn't pump adequately) and for 10 days she was ventilated and sedated while we clung to her bedside praying she would recover. At times we thought she might not make it and we feared we would lose her several times. Our daughter is so strong and resilient with such a zest for life she clung on and is currently hitting all her milestones and is about to tick off the crawling one anyway soon.

However she is still very poorly and her heart functions at 20% of its capacity - although to look at her you wouldn't know. Heart transplants have been mentioned and a certainty is a life time of drugs for Freya (18 at the current count and she's 8 months old) but with your help and donation Cardiomyopathy UK can continue their wonderful work and help more patients like Freya and mums and dads like us.
