Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page - I've now completed my challenge and it was everything and more than expected. From a personal experience and achievement as well as monies raised. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped me along the way. I will treasure the memories and live off new found confidence. If you were going to donate and didn't please don't feel it's too late!
ABOUT ME AND MY CHALLENGE
I may have taken leave of my senses but on reaching 40 this year I decided I wanted to challenge myself and raise money for a charity close to my heart. Having always ridden and owning a horse my chosen challenge is to ride across the low Andes from Argentina to Chile. I set off from Heathow on 17th Jan 2009 and fly to Buenos Aires arriving on 18th Jan to spend one night. Monday 19th I take an internal flight to San Martin de Los Andes where I'll be picked up to go to Estancia Huechahue, the start of the ride. I'll spend a couple of days familiarising myself with the horses and hopefully choosing one which will look after me! The next six days will be spent crossing from the open space of Argentine Patagonia over the Andes to the thickly forested steep slopes of Chilean Patagonia. Accommodation will be camping with lakes and rivers to wash, an adventure in itself for someone who has never camped!!! On returning (by car) to Estancia Huechahue the last day is spent with a final ride before leaving to return home on 29th Jan.
Who knows what I'll do when I'm 50!!
MY CHOSEN CHARITY - BRAMBLES RESPITE CARE CENTRE
I've chosen Bramble Respite Care Centre, which provides respite care for people with MS. My aim, as well as my personal experience, is to raise as much money for Brambles as possible. Knowing I have masses of support will spur me on when the going gets tough.
I've arranged and funded the trip independently (with a bit of help from my husband!), so please give as much as you can - a pound, ten pounds (or more) it will all help and make my challenge all the more worthwhile.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Multiple Sclerosis Society - Brambles Respite Care Centre gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
