Welcome to our webpage. Nathan was my brother and our dear friend. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 4 years ago and died suddenly on November 3rd 2007 age 30. In those days after Nathan passed away I decided that I wanted to do something constructive to help others diagnosed with this condition and in honour of Nathan. He was mad keen on cycling, whether it was watching on the TV, spending time in France in July, or handing up bottles to us as we tried to emulate the pro's. I will always be grateful to those who have stepped up to the plate and supported me in this endeavour. They will be riding alongside me on the day; Doug -
Crasher - Clark; Mike -
TG (The Great) - Moss; Colin -
Seatpin - Simpson; Colin -
Big Boy - Sinclair; and last but not least, in spirit, Nathan -
Terry - Evington. We decided if something is worth doing it is worth doing right! We have all spent many an hour in the peleton together mostly in our teens and early 20's and raced in the UK at some point - some of us even abroad. So, we have decided to dust off the 'race' bikes (or buy new ones!) to ride a complete mountain stage of the Tour de France 2008
http://www.letour.fr/2008/TDF/COURSE/us/1700/etape_par_etape.html. This ride is about 130 miles and takes in 5 mountains, finishing at the top if the famous Alpe D'Huez. We are completing it on Sunday 3rd August 2008 and if you fancy joining us let one of us know! You can follow our preparation for the ride by visiting our blog
http://nathanevington.blogspot.com/ I hope that if you are reading this, you will appreciate how much time, training and preparation this will be for all of us. For some it's only months since we last raced, for others it's nearer a decade since we rode!! Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Cardiomyopathy Association will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you. Please donate generously as it will help us pedal harder. Many thanks for your support.
