Story

The Challenge
In June 2009, Nathan Spicer will be doing a cycle challenge from his home near Coventry to Brixham in South Devon. This is new to Nathan, he has not done anything like this before!

Nathan will be cyclicng from his home and joining John and Joy (who are cycling from John O'Goats to Lands End) for two days before diverting on the 3rd day to Brixham, South Devon. This 200+ mile cycle will end in Torbay which is the home of Nathan's father and the location where his mother was cared for by Rowcroft Hospice.

This will be an emotional trip for Nathan but something that is very important, a way of raising some money and saying thank you to Rowcroft.

The Route
Day 1 (Sunday 7th June 2009) - I will be a riding from my house near Coventry to Chippenham where I will meet up with John Berry, Joy and Sascha who are doing JOGLE (John O'Groats to Lands End). This is an 80 mile ride.

Day 2 (Monday 8th June 2009) - I will be riding with John and Joy and following their route from Chippenham to a camp site in Tiverton where I will spend the night. This is an 83 mile ride.

Day 3 (Tuesday 9th June 2009) - My cycle with John and Joy will end and I will make my own way to the South Devon coast while they head for Bude in North Devon. My route will take me into Exeter, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Torquay and then onto Brixham. The final day is a small 53mile ride.

Over three days I will travel 215.8 miles.

Why?
I am motivated to do this challenge for 2 reasons.  Firstly my mother passed away in April 2008 from Motor Neurone Disease and I really want to do something in her memory. I decided to do this challenge to raise money for Rowcroft Hospice who cared for my mum and many others with this disease. I could never do what they do however what I can do is use some time and effort to raise some much needed cash.

Secondly I wanted to do a personal challenge,  My training has begun, please check out my training blog...

This will be the first of many challenges I want to complete in my lifetime. I want to complete challenges for my own personal fullfilment and to raise money for worthwhile causes. It is too easy to sit and do nothing...
