Story

Well, despite the cyclist's nemesis (strong, consistent headwinds) I made it!!!! 4am start and 9pm finish with 2 x 30 min breaks between. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the kind donations and messages of support

***UPDATE**** That's the training over with and I couldn't have trained any harder. The donations and messages of support have kept me going. Now 'carbing up' for Thursday's effort.

Firstly thanks for visiting my Just Giving sponsorship page.

Recently my cousin, Mark Taylor, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at just 26 years old..

Mark is a Northumbria sport graduate, a member of Whitley Bay FC who won the FA Vase at Wembley in 2009 and teaches PE at Kenton School.

For more information on Mark's story see www.newsguardian.co.uk/latest-news/Footballer-Mark39s-fighting-spirit.6172288.jp

Currently there is no cure for this degenerative disease and whilst research continues to try and find a cure Mark has been given a life expectancy of 3-5 years.

At the forefront of research is the Motor Neurone Disease Association www.mndassociation.org who continue to develop groundbreaking research into the disease. In order to help the MNDA continue its excellent work, I will be tackling a monumental physical challenge. I am going to attempt the Hadrian's Cycle Way which starts in Ravenglass near Barrow-in-Furness and finishes at Arbeia Fort, South Shields, a total of 175 miles and I'm going to attempt it IN A DAY, starting at 4am on 22 July, 2010, with no support vehicles and very possibly on my own (but would appreciate any cyclists joining in towards the end of the route to keep me going).

For details of the route see www.cycle-routes.org/hadrianscycleway/  According to the author of the site nobody has completed it in a day.

I would like to invite you to sponsor me (no matter how big or small) in my attempt to raise as much money as possible for this outstanding cause.

Thanks and best wishes.
