The Chronicle Sunshine Fund provides specialist equipment for children with disabilities or special needs, to improve the quality of their lives. The fund is helping North East children in special schools, learning units, hospitals and also individual families.

Story

Hi,

We are a bunch of 12 misfits putting our bodies on the line for a three day cycle ride, to raise as much money as possible for the children of the North East with special needs.

The Team comprises employees of Trinity Mirror Printing ( Newcastle ) / Newcastle Chronicle & Journal (NCJmedia) plus 4 guests:

Michael Brown (yellow Jersey), Keith Wear (king of the mountains), Jim Smeaton (Colour Sergeant - early to bed), Phil Whitehead (Sponsored by Stella Artois), Paul Robertson  Ed. ( downhill specialist - without microphone !), Albert Siddoway (Senior Citizen - ABTA approved), Gary Ramsay (for a moment- hamlet that is), Steve 'the wheels' Warwick CMO(Chief Medical Officer and support driver- Thank you Stanley Taxis !) plus FOUR guests who actually have bikes and can ride them - Andrew Lawton (Leader of the pack - pace setter), The Taylor Brothers on a tandem (Steve & David - Steve sporting the Parasol !) and, last but not least Graham, who's that fast on two wheels he doesn't use a surname.

We are setting off on the 4th of July from Whitehaven in Cumbria on the 136mile C2C cycle route, returning sometime later in the year (apologies to Stanley Taxis in advance) to Newcastle where we'll be arriving at the Quayside bar beneath the High Level Bridge for 'light' refreshments. Once fully replenished we'll be heading off onto the 'City leg' of the course on the gruelling 10 mile downhill section to the coast ( here we envisage multiple exchanges of the yellow jersey , with Robbo 2-1 F to reach the North Sea wearing same)

Joking aside, thank you for your donation to help the children of the north east live better lives !!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
