Story

<p>The Task we have set ourselves is: We, a group of about 10 16 year olds will be taken into an unknown location somewhere in England. We will then have to find our way to a given location which will be roughly 50 miles away. Over the 2 days we have to complete this task, as a team, we will have to use several different types of transport to manoeuvre across the country. This will be things like Mountain Biking, Canoeing and Hiking. Our aim is to be 'Homeless' for a night. Having to build our own shelters to survive the night. We will also need to live off of a nourishing diet of ration packs.</p> <p>This won't be easy for us at all; so with your generous donations we can make a difference to the homeless people of Wiltshire.</p> <p>NCS. MIX IT UP.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>*SEE BELOW* For Further Details:</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Dont Forget To First Click The Video Page And Have A Little Look At Our The Ad For Our Expedition!! The NCS</span><span style="color: #999999;"> is</span><span style="color: #808080;"> about <em>trying</em> to give <strong>some</strong> teenagers, at the age of 16, the chance to <strong>mix</strong> with <strong>other groups</strong> of people, that, without the project they <strong>wouldn't</strong> normally mix with.</span><br /><br /><span style="color: #808080;">The scheme is in it's <span style="text-decoration: underline;">pilot year</span> and needs <strong><em>as much</em></strong> support as possible <strong>if</strong> it is to take off. The NCS provides <em>these</em> 16 year olds with some extra <strong>qualifications</strong>: Sports Leader Level 1, ASDAN Qualification in Leadership and <strong>more</strong>.</span><br /><br /><span style="color: #808080;">Teamwork <strong>is</strong> an <strong>important </strong>and<strong> integral</strong> part of life in <em>society </em>and the way forward is for the government to <em>attempt</em> to improve the way <strong>young </strong>people construed <strong>themselves</strong>. <a title="OFFICIAL NCS Page" href="http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/YoungPeople/Workandcareers/Workexperienceandvolunteering/NationalCitizenService/index.htm" target="_blank">The Course</a> does <strong>this</strong> in <strong>several </strong>ways; <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em>one</em></span> being the qualifications gained through hard work. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em>Another</em></span> would be<strong> how</strong> they have to work on <strong>team building</strong> exercises, <strong>gaining</strong> <span style="text-decoration: underline;">knowledge</span> and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">experience</span> through this <em>summer long</em> process.</span><br /><br /><span style="color: #808080;">At the <strong>end </strong>of the <a title="OFFICIAL NCS Page" href="http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/YoungPeople/Workandcareers/Workexperienceandvolunteering/NationalCitizenService/index.htm" target="_blank">course</a> the <em>young people</em> <strong>must </strong>complete a <em>community</em> project and a <em>certain amount</em> of hours of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">community service</span> to achieve <strong>one</strong> of their final <strong>qualifications</strong>.</span><br /><br />------------------<br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><span style="color: #000000;">What We Want To Achieve And How we Will Do It:</span></strong></span><br /><br /><span style="color: #999999;">What <em>we</em>, as the <strong>young people</strong> taking part in the <a title="OFFICIAL NCS Page" href="http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/YoungPeople/Workandcareers/Workexperienceandvolunteering/NationalCitizenService/index.htm" target="_blank">scheme</a> want to <strong>achieve</strong> is something that will be of <strong>great benefit</strong> to our <strong>local </strong>society. We picked <em>several points</em> in which we thought the people of <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Wiltshire</span></strong> would best <strong>benefit</strong> from. Helping the <strong>elderly</strong>; the<strong> poor</strong>; people with <strong>drug addictions</strong>; <strong>women who needed shelter</strong> and protection and <strong>finally</strong> we came to a <em>group</em> decision that <em>we</em> <strong>wanted</strong> to help </span><span style="text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;">homeless people/ people who can not afford food.</span><br /><br /><span style="color: #999999;">As <strong>all</strong> of us in the <a title="OFFICIAL NCS Page" href="http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/YoungPeople/Workandcareers/Workexperienceandvolunteering/NationalCitizenService/index.htm" target="_blank">scheme</a> are from <strong>Wiltshire</strong> (Swindon, Trowbridge, Devizes etc.) <strong>we</strong><em> tried</em> to <strong>focus</strong> on <strong>one </strong>place in particular where we could <strong>help</strong> the <strong>most</strong>. Eventually <strong>due</strong> to <em>travel plans</em>, <em>charitable needs </em>and a <em>few other factors</em><strong> we</strong> decided that</span> <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">The Wiltshire Food Bank</span></strong> <span style="color: #999999;">was the place where <strong>we </strong>could <em>provide </em><strong>most</strong> <span style="text-decoration: underline;">help</span> to the <strong>homeless</strong> and <strong>less fortunate </strong>members of <strong>society</strong>.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #999999;"><br /></span></p> <p><span style="color: #999999;">It <strong>Is Important</strong> That <strong>WE</strong> As A <em>Community</em> Remember That These <strong>People</strong> Live With <strong>Us</strong> And</span><strong><span style="color: #999999;"> WE </span><span style="color: #ff0000;">Are</span></strong> <span style="color: #999999;"><em>Responsible</em> For How <strong>WE</strong> <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Look After Them</span></em>. <strong>WE</strong>, As <strong>Fellow Human Beings <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Need</span></strong> To Show Some <em>Compassion</em> And</span> <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Help</strong></span><span style="color: #999999;"> Others Form <strong>Time To Time</strong>. And <strong>WE</strong> Are Saying <em>That</em> Time </span><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Is Now</span></strong>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline; color: #ff6600;"><strong>Please Donate AS MUCH As You Can.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Thank YOU. </strong></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><br />------------------<br /><strong>Thanks</strong> Again From The <strong>Whole</strong> Team!</p> <p>Tom, Megan, Abi, Jake, Norman, Mark, Scott, Kean, Sid, Becca, Mat, Cameron, Paige &amp; Morley.</p> <p>And Our <strong>Geat</strong> Leaders, Cleo (NOT CLOE) Simon And Steve!</p> <p>Plus A <strong>Huge</strong> Thanks To <strong>All</strong> The <strong>Great</strong> People At Youth Action Wiltshire!</p> <p><a title="Youth Action Wiltshire Website" href="http://www.youthactionwiltshire.org/" target="_blank">http://www.youthactionwiltshire.org/</a></p>
