Lewisham NCT is a vibrant branch, active throughout Blackheath Village, Brockley, Catford, Forest Hill, Lee, Hither Green, Lewisham and Ladywell, New Cross and Deptford.
The huge transition to becoming a parent, tiring both physically and emotionally, means that new mums and dads from every section of society need a lot of support.
Our branch runs a variety of friendly events and activities, big and small. We help mums and dads of babies and young children to receive advice and help; to benefit from our support networks; and to form vital and often long-lasting friendships with other local parents. We produce a regular newsletter and a website packed full of useful information; we hold Nearly New Sales, dad's groups, new parent groups, antenatal classes, and much much more!
All our events and services are entirely run by volunteers and funded by our local fundraising activities. Please help us to increase the services and support we can offer by donating to our Justgiving page. Maybe you've appreciated the support you've had from Lewisham NCT during your pregnancy, birth or early parenthood and would like to say 'thank you'. Whatever the reason, we really value every penny!
What do we want to achieve with our fundraising?
In Lewisham we are currently training 3 antenatal teachers, 2 breastfeeding counsellors and 1 postnatal leader - but we want to train more! All your donations help us to increase the specialist support we can offer to local parents. We know from member feedback that many parents feel they need more support than local health services can offer. This is where we can help.
We'd like to set up new Bumps and Babies groups in Lewisham to support new parents; but we need to raise money to pay for venue and set up costs.
We'd like to set up specialist support groups - for example, postnatal depression, single parents, miscarriage, and many more.
The money we raise will also fund the NCT's helplines (Enquiries, Pregnancy and Birth, Breastfeeding, Postnatal). So for example, just a £4.80 donation will cover the cost of specialist support with breastfeeding for a new parent through the NCT's breastfeeding line.
