A stillborn baby is as real and loved as a baby born alive. For the bereaved family the loss is no less important, and the grief and pain are utterly devastating.
Neal Long is the Director of SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society), a national charity with 27 years experience in supporting parents whose baby is stillborn or dies soon after birth. Today, SANDS supports over 4,000 families every year through a national helpline, a UK network of parent led groups, a website (www.uk-sands.org), plus support leaflets and publications.
Neal has agreed to take part in not just one but three of the GreatRun's this year running a total of nearly 30 miles in all. Neal will head the SANDS's teams running at all three venues to help raise further vital funds to help SANDS continue it's vital work.
