Coast to Coast in a day · 30 June 2012

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising funds for Aspire.  Aspire helps people after spinal cord injury.  A couple of years ago I sustained damage to my cervical spine due to a  crash on my bicycle (this probably added to damage already there from a climbing accident a few years before that!). Fortunately I received excellent care once  I went to the doctors with my symptons in 2011. Following surgery  I  have been very lucky,  avoiding permanent serious spinal cord injury.

Aspire helps people with spinal cord injury providing appropriate converted housing, assistive technology, grants for specialist equipment and campaigning for positive change and  improvement for people with spinal injury.  1200 people/year have the horrendous misfortune of spinal cord injury.

I have been looking for an opportunity to raise money for Aspire now that I am back to fitness.  So this June 30th I  will be taking part in  an event to cycle from the west coast of Cumbria, Seascale to Whitby  in a day - in under 12 hours I hope!

So please sponsor me and donate now.  You can do this through this page with a  debit/credit card or by texting.
