My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As you can see some fool managed to persuade me to do the London Marathon and i can already hear  you saying it`s another Neil windup. Well this time it is most certainly not and boy oh boy do i know it.

Training is going well i have cut alcohol intake and just as soon as the weather improves i will start running. Obviously i am confining the running training to night activities as believe me my legs do not see daylight ( have you seen my knees ) Slight problem is someone has just reminded me the Marathon is in April so lets all pray that this Winter is a mild one as i do need to train .

Please donate to help me hit my target of £1000. If you get me half way i will post some pictures of me in my lycra running gear ( hello ) Not a pretty sight and not for the faint hearted.

As if the sight of me in lycra wasn`t enough i am now planning on running as Robin from Batman ( holy superheroes ) So be prepared as there may be sightings of me during training runs very late at night in all the gear to make sure i can wear it on the day

Well thanks very much we seem to be fast approaching the Lycra photos and even a photo of me in the Robin gear ( holy cheap nylon and polyester Batman )

The first half marathon has just been completed in a poor time of 2 hours and 10 minutes but i am hoping to improve as the weeks progress. The second half marathon was quicker in 1hour and 50 minutes. ( i know it seems a long time but the nuts keep getting stuck in my teeth )

A huge ,huge thank you to all of those who have sponsored me so far it is very much appreciated. The good news for all of you is i will be posting some photos of me in the lycra gear and as soon as i get it the Robin outfit ,so keep watching the site for changes.

A huge ,huge thankyou to all of you who have donated as i have now reached my initial target .  Sorry for the delay in changing photos but the web site has been experiencing  a few problems which hopefully i will iron out soon.  Training is going very well with a couple of 16 mile routes finished in under 2hours and 30 minutes.  What i can say is i struggle to walk for a couple of days afterwards as my knee and ankle both swell to the size of small footballs.

Now i know you have all helped me raise the target figure of £1000 but if we could notch it up to £1300 i could afford to upgrade to club class for my trip to the carribean.   You think i am joking , how do you think i got that tan in the picture.............

The first  couple of 20 mile routes have now been completed in 3 hours so training is coming on really well. The Robin suit has arrived and fits where it touches . Clive was right will have to pack the lycra shorts with socks as it leaves nothing to the imagination. The first dress rehersal is tonight on the 8 mile route so fingers crossed it all goes well and not too many people see us.

Well it`s the week of the marathon ( or fun run as some of my friends are calling it )and i can`t  thank all of you who have sponsored me enough. With the way the credit crunch has hit us all ( especially my friends within construction ) i thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the amazing money you have raised me. The target has been smashed and there may still be more to come.  Training is still on target with the last week seeing me do nothing but rest up my sore and aching joints.  Well for those of you who know me well it could have been a stress free week but Rafa and the Liverpool boys have really put me through the wringer with a 4/4 at Chelsea followed by an injury time 4/4 with Arsenal. So to say it has been stress free would be a lie.

Don`t forget keep your eyes peeled on Sunday for myself  and Phil Mabon ( my running partner and great mate )  crossing Tower Bridge as Batman and Robin and just pray we make it to the finish fully clothed as it`s meant to be hot.  No wonder Robin was so thin you sweat like nobodys business in the suit.

Once again thanks for the support and spare a thought for us both on Sunday morning, afternoon and evening when hopefully we will finish.

Well i will not bore you with details such as positions or times but all i need say is i was just outside the top 19000 runners. The day was fantastic and i enjoyed it so much i am entering again next year to relive the day again. A massive thankyou to all who supported me but especially to my wife and family who have been bored stupid by me for a year in the build up to the race and who will have to go through the same again if i get picked to run next year. The support i got from them on the day was fantastic and  really does make a difference. Also i must say a huge thanks to my partner in crime fighting Phil Mabon who got me through the hell that is training and also helped bully me along on the day.

For those who wish they can look at photos of me on the day by visiting the website  www.marathonfoto.com and entering Flora London Marathon 2009 ,surname Kendrick and bib number 39774.
