As many of you will know, I have talked (on and off for 5 years) about running a marathon, having dabbled with a couple of half marathons. It was loose talk like this with a US-based colleague in the pub last summer that proved dangerous! It ended up with me having an option for a guaranteed place in the 2007 New York marathon. I turned that down as I knew I would need more than the 16 weeks available to get myself into shape. However, I turned down New York on the condition that I would run the London Marathon in 2008. I found a charity, Dreams Come True, that particularly appealed to me as it makes dreams come true for terminally and seriously ill children and young people - whether that is to swim with dolphins in Florida or to meet a hero such as a famous footballer. Dreams Come True are allowing me the opportunity to raise money for a 6 year old boy called Cavan, who has autism and severe learning difficulties. His dream is to have a sensory relaxation room fitted with sensory lights and a music creation hand wall. Cavan's dream will cost approximately £2,500. I have undertaken to raise this amount, which I hope will help him on a daily basis. In order to do this I will be grateful if you can please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dreams Come True Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. Neill
