We support childhood lower limb conditions to make a real difference

Story

Hi All,

If you do not already know, I am attempting to run the Edinburgh Marathon with my Wife, Laura!!!

We are running the event on May 31st to raise money for a charity named "Steps". This charity provides support to families affected by lower limb conditions. We have a bested interest in this charity following our gorgeous niece Neve being diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the hip (DDH). This is a condition whereby the ball and socket of the hip do not develop properly.

Neve was unfortunately born with this condition but this was not detected at birth or at her routinely checks. It wasnt until her walking developed further that her condition became more prominent, with Neve dragging her leg slightly and her walking being very wobbly.

Neve was diagnosed with DDH. Not only did it require Neve to have surgery at the age of 1 but it meant that because this condition wasnt diagnosed earlier, she has to wear a cast, which encloses the hips and part of the legs, for the same amount of time the hip had been dislocated. This meant for at least a year

As you can see, Neve is adapting well! But this charity is important to us after providing some great help to the whole family

Thank you so much in advance for sponsoring me

Neil
