Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Nerdtopia Coffee Just Giving page.
Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and worth the hassle, the money raised will be going to the Marie Curie cancer care charity a great organisation that help people suffering with cancer to live out their remaining days in a caring environment, and with odds off 1 in 3 people in the UK developing some form of cancer out of the possible 200 different types (kind of spoilt for choice aren’t we!) it seems like a good charity to donate too.
Why do a 24 hour battle field 3 marathon?
Well there is no point doing something for charity and asking you fine people to give money if it isn’t providing some sort of torturous entertainment at the same time and also it seemed like something four friends (Dan Morse, Kevin Mc Kiverigan, Kevin Lenaghan and Chris Chalmers) could do together.
Now if you think this is going to be fun on our part and you are just giving money to a good cause while four ejits play video games lets point out a few things. Firstly doing anything for 24 hours is a pain not to mention we will have headsets on and be in constant communication with each other, we will have finger cramps within a few hours along with sore eyes, backs and joints. There is also the added bonus that if you have an Xbox and a copy of Battlefield 3 you can pop on, join our server and torment us :)
When and where?
We will be doing the marathon on Saturday the 24 of November 2012 starting at 9am, it will take place in our respective house’s but you can as already mentioned pop onto the server we are playing on (there are 20 spaces free in total, we will post the name of the server on the Nerdtopia Coffee face book page, and you can drop in and out as often as you like/ there is space). We will also be taking breaks and popping up to the shop for coffee and food resupplies, the times for this will be 1pm and 8pm (on Saturday) so even if you don’t have an Xbox but you want to see how we are doing you can pop in and have a coffee with us. I will also be posting photos on our face book page after the event so you can watch our demise unfold in a few different ways.
Well thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you will donate something for our cause
Lastly just a quick note to thank John Ferris for doing two full days in work back to back so we could do this event.
