Newcastle to Nice · 7 January 2013

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity, supporting young lives from birth to 18. Our mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the North East who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.

Story

Back in the summer of 2012 four North East bike riders made a pledge to do something challenging in 2013 that would make a difference to those less fortunate than themselves. All four riders have ridden their bikes and had excellent health from their early years and it was agreed that they would embark on a cycling challenge that would raise funds for disabled and disadvantaged children right here in the North East of England.

Metro Radio’s charity Cash For Kids were selected and a route was mapped that would take them through four countries, and ride 1000 miles in 7days…..the Newcastle to Nice challenge was born.

The riders including Dominic Munnelly, Collin Humphrey, Gary McBean, Geoff Mount, Nev Martin and Bev Blakeman will leave Tyneside on Friday the 24th of May 2013 and all ride approximately 150 miles per day heading from Newcastle across the flatlands of Holland into Belgium, down the Rhone valley of France and then across the hills of Provence to finish 7 days later on the Mediterranean coast at the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors every single pound raised by the four riders will go direct to Cash For Kids who will allocate the funds to disabled and disadvantaged NE kids. Every pound will make a difference so please make a donation here or simply text xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
