I have embarked on a journey to raise funds to help alleviate the pains of all those suffering throughout the world. When disaster strikes in whatever manner, the affect on individual lives is devastating. Often those hardest hit will be individuals who are least capable of coping in the aftermath. They will often be struggling with their injuries and further burdened by the grief of having lost family members. These circumstances can reduce the most capable of individuals into victims requiring all manner of help.

I hope with your kind donations to help build a small medical centre in  Bagherat, (Borguna, Bangladesh) and serve the people of this, as well as surrounding villages. Bagherat was ravaged by Cyclone Sidr in 2007, where hundreds lost their lives, whilst others lost their homes, livelihood and possessions. Inshallah, the medical centre will go a long way in providing free basic health care for these people and will be equipped with essentials to care for the community. The money we raise will help build the centre, provide it with all the required equipment and also pay salaries of 4 qualified staff.

The charity that I have chosen to help is Islamic Help. Why?

Islamic Help was launched with the principle motive of helping mankind in all possible walks of life. The grave poverty and the catastrophic events are saddening and shocking reminders of the horrific sufferings endured by millions around the world.

Islamic Help maintains a rapid response resource unit in this respect. Whenever disaster strikes, Islamic Help directs its resources into the affected area as efficiently as possible. Where another agency is operational in the area, Islamic Help will add to that agency’s resources. There are many instances where Islamic Help have been on the ground amidst all the carnage and danger to assist those who need it most. The recent eartquake in Haiti is one such example.
