Motorcycling challenge · 15 October 2010

Every 2 hours, someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury. Their world – and that of their family – is turned upside-down. SIA aim to reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury, to connect them to all the help and support they need to life a fulfilled life.

Story

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) offer life long support to those who have suffered spinal cord injury and their families and carers. The charity strives to improve quality of life, to increase knowledge and awareness of such injuries and campaign for the best medical practice and social support to those who have suffered such an event.

Road traffic accidents are the major cause of spinal cord injury and NewLaw Solicitors Ltd has one of the most experienced Serious Injury teams in the country dealing with these most severe of injuries.  Acting for clients with these difficulties brings to the fore the challenges that they encounter every day of their lives. For these reasons, they are our nominated charity for 2010.

To heighten awareness of the work done by the SIA and to raise much needed funds to support their projects several avid motorcyclists from NewLaw Solicitors are attempting to raise £10,000.00 for the charity through various internal and external fund raising events.  The main focus of this fundraising is three of our colleagues namely Mike Brown, Raj Rajamohan and Rob Beer undertaking a 1300 km motorcycle trip across Northern India in October 2010 on Royal Enfield Bullet motorbikes.

The trip will last some 9 days traveling through the foothills of the Himalayas. We start at Amritsar's Golden Temple before moving onto Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama, riding onto Bir, the best paragliding site in the World! From Bir we ride onto to Manali and then to Chail over the Jalori Pass at 10,000ft. This will be followed by the longest day in the seat riding to the banks of the River Ganges some 340km where we will then camp overnight before riding back to Delhi the following day.

We have been supported by a number of business clients, associates and staff alike and are grateful for all their support throughout the year.
