Zip Slide - Bristol Urological Institute · 26 June 2008

The Bristol Urological Institute aims to improve the treatment and care of people with urological disorders, to support and develop research with particular emphasis on cancers of the urinary tract and the problem of incontinence and to provide a high standard of training for nurses, medical students, doctors and surgeons.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am taking part in a sponsored zip slide event at Ashton Gate stadium on Saturday 12 July 2008.

I will be strapped into a harness (diggity!) suspended below a wire rope and travel at speeds of up to 30mph between the Williams and Dolman stands.

I am raising money for the Bristol Urological Institute - Prostate Cancer Care & Research Centre. (Incidentally this is where I work, so I'll ensure your money is spent wisely.)

Prostate cancer affects 30,000 men each year in the UK and causes 14,000 deaths. The same death rate as breast cancer in women. Whereas women are aware of the risks and regularly check their breasts for any untoward symptoms and go for regular mammograms, many men are unaware that there is a diagnostic test available which they can ask for if they are concerned.

Alternatively, you could consider taking part yourself, we do have some limited places available, check here for details http://www.bui.ac.uk/

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bristol Urological Institute gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks

Nick
