As many of you know, this is my third attempt at the London Marathon, with the first two ending in injury that affected my time - though at least I completed the course. This time I hope to get round in one piece to help raise money for the NSPCC.

Given the fact I'm known for genealogy and investigating the past, it's easy to forget that there are many children who face real problems in their everyday lives, and that we need to make an effort to tackle these issues today to stop a legacy of abuse or cruelty being passed on.
