Martin Currie - Rob Roy Challenge 2008 · 21 June 2008 ·

Martin Currie Charitable Foundation is run by staff of Edinburgh-based investment management business, Martin Currie. We support a number of good causes through charitable donations and volunteering. Our main fundraising event is the Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge, held each year in June.

Story

The trip I'm undertaking is a 16 mile walk and 39 mile cycle across some rather lovely parts of the Highlands.  Despite my lack of any cycling since the early 90s, I've heard good things about the ease with which riding a bike can be picked up again so I reckon I'll be ok.  I'm reasonably well practised at walking.

I'm already starting off with a broken finger, so I will accept donations based around the frequency and severity of further injury incurred.  Donations above £100k will be used to rebuild me in the style of a slightly rubbish 6 Million Dollar Man (a sort of NHS version).

Any loose change will be gratefully received by the charities for this event - Prince's Trust, Place2Be (works inside schools to support and nurture troubled children) and Habitat for Humanity (providing affordable shelter to vulnerable people).

Thank you for your generosity.
