Over the past five years I have been involved in fundraising for the charity Scope, formerly The Spastics Society, for their work with people with cerebral palsy and their carers. Every six hours a baby is born with cerebral palsy in the UK. Scope is the largest charity in the UK working with disabled people, their families and carers.
To date I have managed to raise over £10,000 for Scope by taking part in sponsored cycling events. In fact the most recent event I took part in was a cruelling 600km ride over 6 days in Cambodia. The events are basic in nature with participants camping overnight and food being basic fare. The trip raised in excess of £100,000 which really made a difference to Scopes work
Due to the success of this event I have decided to take part in the Bike Vietnam Challenge this October. This will be a 450km cycle ride from the north to the south of the country. Starting from Vietnam's bustling capital city of Hanoi, we will cycle over 450km through the ancient city of Hue, rural villages and lush paddy fields, finishing on the beaches of Phan Thiet and Mui Ne in the south. The events are real challenges and involve considerable commitment to train before hand. The cost of the trip is covered by corporate sponsorship so any money you donate will all go to Scope.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Any help that you can give, be it large or small will make a difference to the work of Scope.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
