Story

NEWS!!!!!

The Michelmores run 2010 for Hospicecare was last night, and I am chuffed to bits to be able to say that I finished it in 29 minutes and 1 second; doing it in under 30 minutes is much better than I expected to be able to do, given that I'm a fat man who hates running.  I finished 574th out of a field of about 1200; mid-table obscurity! But I ran all the way without pause and even managed to up my tempo for the home straight.

Right, the above in italics is all the pre-written blurb nonsense.  This bit here is what I'm writing, so pay attention.

I took up running a couple of weeks before I got married at the end of April in a vague attempt to lose some gut.  I failed, because we honeymooned in NYC and I ate the biggest piece of cheesecake ever and loads of burgers.  I like food.  I like beer.  I like wine.  I don't like running, but I'm still doing it, 2, 3, maybe even 4 times a week.  I find it hard.  It hurts.  I spent loads of money on proper trainers from that poncey running shop by the Iron Bridge in the vague belief that technology makes things easier. It doesn't.  Running hurts me, and more than that, it's quite boring.  I have never done anything even remotely like a sponsored run before in my life and I feel vaguely terrified at the prospect.  So sponsor me.  The money goes to dying people, so they can be a bit more comfortable before they die.  It's worthwhile.
