Liberty cycle ride · 22 May 2009

The Civil Liberties Trust funds the charitable work of Liberty - to protect civil liberties and promote human rights. Liberty raises awareness through the media, helps thousands of people each year with free legal advice and information, influences policy and takes on key legal cases.

Story

Christopher and I will be joining the Liberty sponsored bike ride on Sunday June 7, from Thomas Paine's statue in Thetford, to the Market Square in Saffron Walden. But on our tandem..... Liberty, which used to be the National Council for Civil Liberties, is a cross party, non-party membership organisation campaigning for fundamental rights and freedoms ("promotes the values of individual human dignity, equal treatment and fairness as the foundations of a democratic society"). By sponsoring us through this site, your money will be going to Liberty's charitable arm, the Civil Liberties Trust. If you would prefer that your contribution went either to Liberty (they would prefer that!) or to the Thomas Paine Society, just send them (via us?) a cheque. But we would be thrilled if you could sign up here: this is our first foray into such public fundraising! Many, many thanks..... Do join the ride: that would be really fun. It looks fabulous - for details contact us. And the weather forecast?
