Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Me? Compete in a Triathlon??!? Yes, this would have been my reaction too several months ago.
I met John Fisher through my work as a transplant coordinator a couple of years ago. I remember feeling quite humbled that there was this man, who since receiving a Heart Transplant had taken life by the horns and worked tirelessly to increase social awareness of organ donation in the UK by competing in National and International Marathon races and Triathlons.
Little did I realise that at some point I too would be joining him on one of his competitions….. I’m not sure what happened when John popped in to see us….maybe I was hypnotised, the only thing I can remember is challenging my then colleague Julie that if she entered the Mazda London Triathlon 2008 to raise money for Johns’ charity then I would too.
Well, here I am new tri suite in hand and a bike with a saddle that I am sure contravenes all health and safety requirements….surely they should be larger??
I am excited, nervous and honoured to be invited into the team and aim to complete the race before they reopen the roads at 5pm!
If you have found this page through the wonders of the internet and Google, rather than coming here to sponsor me, please take a minute and visit John’s page for some truly inspirational stories of triumph against adversity, you may even then want to visit UK Transplant and find out more about becoming an organ donor.
Anyway, thank you for your interest and when you tucking in to your Sunday lunch on the 10th August spare a thought for us all competing as best we can
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: To Transplant and Beyond gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now.
