Story
On Sunday 10th July, my trusty bike aka Gloyd and I are going to challenge ourselves to a 60-mile Capital to Coast ride for charity - My charity of choice is Down's Syndrome Association.
The Down's Syndrome Association helps people with Down's syndrome to live full and rewarding lives. They are the only organisation in this country focusing solely on all aspects of living successfully with Down's syndrome.
It’s going to be tough bearing in mind i first got back on the road only two years ago (after a minor incident in my teens !!!) when Gloyd and I went on are maiden vogue, and within ten minutes I was on the curb outside a busy pub in the summer time. More recently i can be seen utilising my bike to take me to the pub in the summer time, or spinning at the gym.
So when I triumphtly (hopefully) climb off the bike at Hove, it will be in the tired, happy knowledge that I’ll have done something great for charity...
It is a really well organised event - there’ll be free food to eat and beautiful open countryside surrounding me. And a beach at Hove on which to rest my weary legs, whilst tucking into fish, chips and a feeeew beers.
So please rummage down the back of the sofa, dust off the wallet – and find a few pounds (or lots!) to sponsor me.
Of course, you could always get up off the sofa and do the ride with me as well! I'll be staying down in Brighton the night before, and then making my way down to hove early(ish) Sunday morning.
You can find out more information and register by clicking on www.capitaltocoast.org.uk or by calling 020 8420 6944. It’s only £25 [for the full 60 mile ride, or] £15 [for the 30 mile ride], if you register before the event.
Thanks for helping me to help others – I’ll let you know how I get on!
Nicola & Gloyd
