At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I am going to be trekking Peru in May 2005 to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. Dementia affects over 750,000 people in the UK alone and I have seen the devastating affects that memory loss (which is one of the symptoms of dementia) has on the whole family.

The team and I are going to be trekking for 5 days at an altitude of over 4,000m and some days we'll be walking for 8 -10 hours. We'll also be camping, with no flush toilets or showers for 3 nights! So I won't be able use my hairdryer and there will be no stylist on hand to touch up my make-up before my photo calls!

Please, please sponsor me so I can raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Society. The Society makes a huge difference to the lives of people who are affected by dementia.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. What's more if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support. Nicola
