Dear Friends,

Our names are Nicole & Zoe Kuisis.  We are sisters and both currently work for the Church Mission Society (CMS) in Cowley, Oxford.  CMS is a Christian charity seeking to transform lives and communities.  We work through interchange: sharing resources, people and ideas in mutual two-way relationships.  CMS currently supports 700 people working in over 50 countries through a network of partnerships.

We are taking part in a sponsored cycle challenge to raise funds for the work of CMS.  The challenge is to cycle 290 miles from Greenwich, London to the Eiffel Tower, Paris over 4 days, 10-14 September 2008.  We have been told that we will cycle through beautiful countryside and some historical sites, but also find that neither Southern England nor Northern France is flat!  However, we are excited for this as it is our first visit to Paris and we are always up for a challenge!  We just hope that we will have enough energy after the four days to actually get around and do some sightseeing…he he :-)

We have never done anything like this before and those who know us will be aware that we are keen joggers rather than cyclists!  We have had to start from scratch with regards to training and getting equipment not to mention learning all the cyclist lingo!  You can see how this really is a BIG challenge for us but all the same WE BELIEVE THAT WE CAN DO IT!!

The funds raised will go towards generally supporting the various work that CMS is involved in worldwide.  Below is just one example of how CMS works towards transforming lives…

CMS in action: Drs Wim and Bertha Schoonbee are bringing the gift of sight in Rwanda

Gahini Hospital, Rwanda, makes thorough use of meagre resources and currently has three doctors. In recognition of in the quality of care, referrals come from across the region.

Dr Wim carries out general surgery, eye operations in the new eye theatre and eye-health outreach within the community. He is training local people in providing eye care and has a vision that some of these people will be able to start providing eye care in the much needed areas of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. This area has been especially ravaged by war with very few medical facilities and little eye care.

As we are from Africa ourselves we know firsthand what it is like to live amidst poverty and suffering.  And we know how even the slightest bit of help can be in fact life saving to those suffering, help that may seem like nothing to you or I.

Please help CMS support the work of Wim, Bertha and many other partners and support personnel who are transforming lives and communities around the world.  Thank you!
