On August 21st 2009, I am heading off to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

l'll be fundraising for my mum who we almost lost two years ago to a brain tumour. Thanks to the surgeons who successfully operated on her, my mum has made a 100% recovery.

I lost my dad to cancer 6 years ago I feel that i need to do something positive for mum who was so brave, and others with brain tumours or injury. I am fundraising for BASIC (Brain and Spinal Injury Centre)

Standing at nearly 6,000m, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in the world, and is my biggest challenge yet....

My brother in law has also signed up to climb alongside me, and will be walking to raise money for my dad, he is raising money for macmillan Cancer and his link is www.justgiving.com/simonkilitrek
