As a Vet I wanted to somehow put to use the knowledge I have gained over my long career in a positive way.  I have had this wonderful opportunity to do so, by working with the Orangutans. I am at Sepilok working in the Clinic as well as  working on pioneering research on the habitat and indigenous species of the area.  I am raising funds for the Orangutan Appeal U.K and am also looking at sending medical equipment to aid the resident vet in her work. I am totally enamoured by the Orangutans, they look you in the eyes with complete trust, so lets not let them down any further. These creatures and their habitat are too precious to lose. I have met my adopted 'Grandaughter' (Orangutan) she is beautiful. She was bought to the centre at just 1 years old, her mother was never found. The palm oil industry is destroying their natural habitat and mothers are often lost in this destruction, leaving many orphans behind. I see my fundraising as ongoing now and hope to return to help next year. This is my 60th birthday fund raising event, the best birthday present I could receive is to help Sepilok in anyway I can, so please donate what you can. Thankyou, Nigel.
