Byte Night Scotland · 2 October 2009 ·

We protect and support children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support. We ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives. Our vision is that every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  On the 2nd of October we gaveup the luxury and comfort of our beds to sleep outdoors in Holyrood Park in Edinburgh to raise money for a very worthy cause. In case you hadn't noticed, that night turned out more than a little stormy, with gusts of up to 60mph and rain lashing down. We all survived (although hot showers and dry clothes were required) but think of all those who would have to do the same the following night, and the next, without dry clothes to change into, and without hot showers!

Byte Night is the IT industry's annual sleep out in support of Action for Children. Each year hundreds of individuals and teams from across the business community spend a night together exposed to the elements in a bid to raise sponsorship and awareness for Action for Children's vital work. In 2008 Byte Night raised £470,000.

Founded in 1869, Action for Children is one of the UK's largest children's charities working with nearly 170,000 children, young people and their families at nearly 450 projects across the UK. Previously known as NCH, Action for Children is committed to helping the most vulnerable children and young people break through injustice, deprivation and inequality so they can achieve their full potential.
