Story

Hey you :-)
Thank you for visiting this page, it means that you are at least considering donating which is a good start!!!

Firstly, I want to start by explaining who I'm fundraising for and my reasons behind it. As you all know my Dad has been suffering from various forms of cancer for eight long years. Sadly, on 1st April 2008 his battle came to an end and he passed away.

Throughout his battle, Pilgrims Hospice (Canterbury) have given him the care and support he needed to allow him to live a dignified and comfortable life. They gave him the opportunity to meet new friends who shared the same experiences, as well as helping and encouraging him to develop new skills and interests - in Dad's case he became a budding artist (and a pretty good one too!!!).

When he felt he needed it, the Pilgrims Hospice provided Dad with a place to rest and recieve the medical care he needed in a friendly, calm environment. As his mobility and ability to perform day-to-day tasks deteriorated they supplied the healthcare and equipment needed to allow him to stay in the comfort and familiarity of his own home, surrounded by his friends and family.

The Hospice also provided physical and emotional support for my Mum, my Brother and myself including arranging for a respite nurse to come in twice a week and give us a much needed break from the full time care we were giving Dad. Without the hospice, Dad would not have been able to stay at home til the end as he wished, and the care we were able to supply him would not have been possible.

I won't bore you with the details of all the fantastic work that the Pilgrims Hospice do, however, I would like to let you know that running the hospice costs a massive 7.5 million pounds each and every year, money which is only available through fundraising and the kind donations from people just like you and me.

In order to to help others who are going through, or will go through this sad experience, and also as a memory and tribute to my wonderful and brave Dad who i am so very proud of, myself and my sister in law, Juliette, will be taking part in a 10k Midnight Walk
commencing in Deal on Saturday 7th June. The walk is a fundraiser for Pilgrims Hospice and we aim to complete the walk within 2 hours and want to raise at least £500.

I would be grateful to receive whatever you can spare as a donation, as they say every little helps and if 200 people donate £2 each thats a massive £400 to such a worthy cause. (...but remember my target is £500+ so dig deep ;-)  !!!)

Until you and your family are affected by cancer you cannot being to imagine the impact and effect it has on every aspect of your life. I hope to God none of you ever have to experience it so please help me to ensure that those who do have to deal with it get the best possible care, just like my Dad had.

Thank you for looking, happy sponsoring
:-)

Lots of love
