Hi

I turned 50  this March. I thought this year I should do this once in a lifetime challenge and together with my sister, Nita, embark on  the - Hike the Himalayan Kingdom "challenge your body, inspire your mind"  Importantly we both want to raise a significant amount for the charity Medequip4Kids as we both strongly believe in this cause.

The charity does some amazing work in helping sick kids by providing equipment not readily available and improving the environment in hospitals across the north of England.

I finally got the go ahead from my GP to do this trek and so now the work begins. I have started my fitness program by going to the gym 4 to 5 times a week - sensibly doing cardiovascular equipment to begin with. This can be a struggle at times due to other commitments in the evening but it is something I look forward to. I then plan to walk to work (3 to 4 miles each way) 2 to 3 times a week and plan go to the Lakes for the challenging part.

 I will let you know how I am doing and inform you of events I plan to do in the coming months. So please kindly sponsor me as I would be grateful for any amount however small in order for me reach my target by October!

21.02.09   My first fundraising event was a success - I used my cooking skills to make over 250 somosa's and an equal amount of onion bhagis for colleagues at my workplace.  This event certainly proved popular but I was exhausted !

11/03/09  I have today approached a company that works closely with charities - Bag2thefuture.  This entails the company sending  personalised plastic bags for me to distribute to colleagues and friends and  for them to fill will unwanted clothes, shoes, bags and household items such as bedding, curtains etc.  Once collected and sent to the depot it is weighed and a cheque for the charity is then forwarded.
