My story

Thank you for visiting my webpage -- this page is to help me fundraise for a charity hitchhike to Morocco, which I and my friend Suhailah (http://www.justgiving.com/suhailahmohamed) will be doing this coming Easter/Pesach holidays.

I am raising money for a charity called Link Community Development which aims to improve educational opportunities in several sub-Saharan African countries. In places like Ghana, Malawi, Ethiopia, Uganda and South Africa, Link Community Development works with local authorities to build schools, buy materials, and train teachers.

Schools are often underdeveloped and teachers under-trained. Some schools have no desks, many do not have enough textbooks for all the students. In many of the countries that your money will go to, HIV/AIDS is a big problem, and one that can be combated through education. In the above countries , four million children have been orphaned as a result of this disease.

Your money can help fight these problems and improve the opportunities of those living in one of the poorest parts of the world.

If you chose to sponsor me your money may be used for these things:

* £10 will buy ten reading books.
* £20 will pay for a teacher to attend an HIV/AIDs training session.
* £30 will fund literacy training for one teacher.
* £45 will pay for one teacher to receive eight days of training with LCD staff.

The Morocco Hitch and Prague Hitch are LCD's biggest source of funding, raising over £350,000 a year. For more information about Link Community Development see www.lcd.org.uk

How will the hitch work?

The hitch starts from Dover and ends as soon as Suhailah and I set foot in Morocco. The hitch can take as long as two weeks, or it can all be over in 36 hours (the current record), though the average duration is six days.

If you are sponsoring me and want to know how I am doing you will be able to track me on this site: http://hitch.lcd.org.uk/hts/

And....

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Link Community Development gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. However, N.B. if you are related to me, you can NOT claim Gift Aid.

Please sponsor me now!

Thank you for reading this page, and thank you very much for sponsoring me!

Noam
