Plan is one of the oldest and largest children's development organisations in the world.  For many years I have been supporting Plan in a very small way with their 'sponsor a child' scheme.  For the past 20 years  these have been children in Haiti.  You can imaging my dismay on hearing the news of the earthquake.

Plan has been working in Haiti since 1973 and was able to respond immediately when the earthquake struck.   Their priorities since the earthquake are the safety, education and wellbeing of children e.g. 

    Immediate Aid    Thousands of people have lost their homes and are living in tents.

    Working with children to help them overcome the trauma of the earthquake.  

    Getting children back to school.

All this work requires money which is needed urgently now.   The money you donate is sent from JustGiving to Plan every week.

Plan is one of the oldest and largest children's development organisations in the world. They work in 48 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas to promote child rights and lift millions of children out of poverty.  Plan was founded in 1937 with the aim to provide food, accommodation and education to children whose lives had been disrupted by the Spanish Civil War.

Plan conceived the idea of a personal relationship between a child and a sponsor.  The idea that problems faced by many children can be reflected in the story of one child's life helps people to see the human face of poverty - and, more importantly, see how they can help.
