Story
Ah you're here, which means you're either taking part in this 24 Hour Fast or you know someone who is. Either way, a huge thank you for visiting.
I have had Crohn's Disease for 10 years and never really talked about it. I decided this year that it was time I 'came out' and acknowledged it. So I started a blog. You can read that here: http://decadeofdefecation.wordpress.com/ One of the things that I realised I wanted to do was raise awareness of this little discussed illness. I also realised that I wanted to raise money for a charity that offers not only great support and advice but also does a lot of research into both Crohn's and Colitis.
So this is my first venture into organising a fundraising event and I wanted to make it relevant to the very reason I am raising money. There have been times that I have completely lost my appetite and not been able to eat for weeks because of Crohn’s Disease. This is a typical symptom of the illness at some point for most sufferers. At the moment I am well, thanks to a drug that I have to inject. This means I can almost eat anything I want. And I do….. but on December 3rd for 24 hours I am going to eat nothing... not even pizza.... or crisps! And I am taking a whole bunch of people with me........
Crohn’s Disease has made me feel so lonely at so many points in my life. Most of the symptoms I experience I couldn’t even begin to explain. However, hunger is one that I can show people so I have set the challenge of getting 100 people to join in with this 24 Hour Fast. If each person raises / donates just £10 each that's a thousand pounds!
This page is for everyone taking part and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone inviolved so far. Please leave a donation big or small to support these incredibly generous people who are giving up their ability and desire to eat for a whole 24 hours.
